Oscar Cornelio-Flores, MD
Dr. Oscar Cornelio-Flores is a Board-Certified Family Medicine Physician. He graduated from San Marcos University Medical School in his native country of Peru, in 2000. After working as a general practitioner for 4 years, he came to the US for his family medicine residency and graduated from the Cleveland Clinic Fairview Hospital Program in Cleveland, OH in 2008. After working in community health clinic settings, he was accepted at the prestigious Research Fellowship Program in Integrative Medicine at Boston Medical Center, and graduated in 2016. He also pursued his Master of Science in health services research at the Boston University School of Public Health during his fellowship.
Besides practicing the full spectrum of Family Medicine, from newborn to geriatric care, Dr Cornelio-Flores has a particular interest in Integrative and Functional Medicine. He pays special attention to the close relationship between the mind-body-spirit and the environment, the role of nutrition and exercise on chronic medical conditions, and works collaboratively with his patients to help them not only to feel better, but to reach their maximum wellness potential. Dr. Cornelio-Flores is trained in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) techniques, which will be offered in group or individual visits. He has been a guest speaker to spread his work at national and international conferences. He is passionate about teaching and learning, and was an adjunct faculty at the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Medicine, where he was involved with the training of family medicine residents and medical students.
Dr. Cornelio-Flores’s main interest in life is to enjoy time with his wife and his 3 beautiful daughters. He is very active and loves running, swimming, biking, playing soccer, and chasing his little ones in the park. Music also plays an important role in his life, so don’t be surprised if he prescribes you Zumba when you come to see him.
