Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Andrew Heil is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist with a Master of Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He has experience working with people diagnosed with severe and persistent mental illness as a community mental health social worker with specific training and interest in psychosis, trauma, and addiction.

Andrew uses a variety of evidence-based practices to help individuals and their loved ones manage and make meaning of conditions including depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and substance use disorders. Using a person-in-environment lens, he works with patients to guide them back to their inherent strengths, build skills and knowledge, and make shifts internally and externally to find meaning and value in their lives while reducing distress.

A North Carolina native, Andrew lives in Durham with his wife and their adorable border collie. He enjoys reading, cooking, hiking, archery, comic books, and table-top gaming. Outside of work, you can find him spending time with his family and friends out and about around the Triangle, as well as occasionally in the mountains or at the beach.
