Amy Tammenga, FNP-C
Amy Tammenga is a Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Amy attended the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, FL for both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing. She worked for 5 years at a rehabilitative hospital in Florida primarily on the neurological and brain injury unit before pursuing her master’s. As a Family Nurse Practitioner, she has worked with the inpatient trauma department at Duke University Medical Center before discovering her passion for primary care at a rural internal medicine and pediatrics office in Roxboro, NC.
Amy truly enjoys the variety seen in primary care. She strives for being an advocate for her patients, sharing education, and collaborating with others in order to provide well-rounded care geared towards improving each individual’s health-related quality of life. Her interests in medicine include integrative preventive health, nutritional benefits, and chronic disease management.
When Amy is not working, she aims at spending most of her time outdoors. She enjoys gardening, hiking with her dog Banjo, camping, kayaking, and exploring all that the Triangle has to offer.
